Special Connections Consulting was founded by Sarah Rockwell, Ph.D, MBE. Sarah has a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Special Education, a Master's degree in Special Education with a focus on reading instruction, and a doctoral degree in Special Education with a focus on teaching academic skills to children with moderate to severe disabilities. Sarah believes that all children, regardless of disability status, are entitled to high quality academic instruction that takes their individual learning and communication needs into consideration. She also believes that families are a child's first and most influential teachers. Sarah is passionate about empowering families by giving them the tools they need to help their children learn.
Sarah is also a Master Babywearing Educator. She volunteers as a co-leader of Babywering International (BWI) of the Bay Area, serves on the Board of Directors for BWI, and is co-chair of BWI's Medical and Research Panel.
Sarah is also a wife and mother of a toddler. She has experienced the benefits of responsive parenting and babywearing and believes that these benefits can be even greater for children with disabilities and their families.
Through Special Connections Consulting, Sarah has combined her interests in special education, academic instruction, babywearing, and responsive parenting. She offers in-home consultations to families with young children with and without disabilities.
